PartyPoker.com overview
PartyPoker.com is the world's largest poker room. With over 35,000 simultaneous players during peak traffic time every day, Partypoker.com is bigger than all land-based poker rooms in the world combined.
PartyPoker.com burst onto the online poker scene in August 2001 with the launch of its flagship event, the PartyPoker.com Million tournament. This inaugural tournament guaranteed a first prize of one million dollars, making it bigger than any other limit hold ‘em tournament in the world. The tournament was also historic in that it was the first major tournament won by a female poker player – Kathy Liebert.
The PartyPoker.com Million I event was broadcast on the Travel Channel as a program produced by Steve Lipscomb, now CEO of the World Poker Tour. The success of the PartyPoker.com Million television event was a key milestone in the development of the hugely popular World Poker Tour, of which PartyPoker.com is a charter member.
PartyPoker.com has come a long way since the first PartyPoker.com Million was hosted in March 2002. Qualifying rounds for the PartyPoker.com Million III are wrapping up, and with nearly 400 online qualifiers, PartyPoker.com has chartered the Holland America Line’s ms Ryndaam cruise ship to host this giant $3.5 million prize-pool event. The ship sets sail on March 18, 2004. The PartyPoker.com Million IV is just around the corner, with qualifying beginning on March 1, 2004.
PartyPoker.com is unlike any other poker room in the world. The company is managed by a team of top business and technology school alumni. A panel of highly experienced consultants from the poker world guides the development of the company and software. This panel includes World Poker Tour commentator Mike Sexton, poker luminary and respected player Linda Johnson, and Andy Glazer, a well-known poker author.
